Most helicopter pilots are qualified to fly in sight of the ground, clear of cloud and in daylight. Severn Aviation's senior pilots have the top instrument rating qualifications from the Civil Aviation Authority, enabling them to fly in poor visibility - through cloud and at night. For such flying, we use twin-engine helicopters with instrumentation similar to airliners.

This is usually referred to as all-weather operations.

There are, in fact, some weather conditions in which flight is not possible. You can rest assured that our pilots will not compromise on safety.
